Feature: Ninja Hound Companion
As a member of the Inuzuka clan, you are raised alongside a specially bred ninja hound who you form a unique bond with as you develop your skills as a ninja. This hound is highly intelligent and fiercely loyal to you. Many of your clan’s specialty jutsu will require the use of your companion, which grants you access to the Inuzuka Clan Jutsu list.
You have either the Earth or Fire nature.
When you select this background, you also select the type of ninja hound you would like to accompany you on your journeys (stat blocks detailed below): Brute, Tracker, Skirmisher
Your hound acts on your turn in initiative, and you can verbally command your ninja hound as a bonus action on your turn. Your hound can take an action, bonus action, and move action when you do so. If you give it no commands, it will take the dodge action instead. If you are unconscious or otherwise unable to provide a command, your companion acts in its best interests and will fiercely protect you. Your hound adds your proficiency bonus to its attack rolls, damage rolls, armor class, and any skill it is proficient in. Whenever you increase your ninja level, your hound gains an additional hit die and increases its hit points accordingly. If your companion dies, you can return it to life over the period of 8 hours and at the expense of 100 gold pieces.

Your ninja hound urinates in a wide arc marking creatures with a distinct scent. Creatures in a 15-foot cone originating from your ninja hound are marked with its urine. The hound has advantage on any check made to locate the creature for the duration of the jutsu, and if the target is within 1 mile of the ninja hound it can accurately locate it without the need for any skill check. The urine also smells and makes the target uncomfortable for this reason.
This jutsu ends early if an affected creature is fully submerged in water.

You command your ninja hound with more force and focus than normal. Your hound can immediately make a single attack against a creature within its range.
Spending More Chakra. You can spend more chakra points to strengthen this jutsu. For every additional chakra point you spend past the original cost, the damage of the ninja hound’s attack increases by 1d6. You can spend a maximum of 6 chakra points on this jutsu.

You command your ninja hound to protect an ally by causing a distraction. The first attack roll against a target within 5 feet of your ninja hound is made with disadvantage.
Spending More Chakra. You can spend more chakra points to strengthen this jutsu. For every additional two chakra points you spend past the original cost, the hound can impose disadvantage on an additional attack. You can spend a maximum of 6 chakra points on this jutsu.

You take on the beastial features of your ninja hound as your teeth sharpen and your fingernails grow. For the duration of the jutsu, your movement speed increases by 10 feet, your unarmed strikes deal an additional 3 points of damage, and you can choose to have your unarmed strikes deal piercing damage.

The enhanced senses of your companion become your own. For the duration of this Jutsu, you gain advantage on wisdom (perception) and wisdom (survival) checks that rely on smell. Additionally, you can smell chakra which can assist with identifying techniques, chakra natures, ninja with unique jutsu, etc.
Due to your enhanced senses, you are more vulnerable to strong smells. While you are under the effect of this jutsu, you have disadvantage on saving throws to resist harmful effects that take the form of gas or vapor.
Fang Over Fang
C-Rank Taijutsu
Casting Time: 1 Action (considered an attack)
Range: 30 feet

Chakra Point Cost: 1 point
You and your companion begin to rotate rapidly pushing chakra throughout your limbs and dash towards your opponent. Your animal companion must be within 5 feet of you in order for you to cast this jutsu. The target must make a strength saving throw or take 2d8 slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. You and your companion then land at a point within 5 feet of your target. This is considered an attack for the purposes of other abilities or effects.
Spending More Chakra. You can spend more chakra points to strengthen this jutsu. For every additional chakra point you spend past the original cost, add an additional 1d8 slashing damage. You can spend a maximum of 9 chakra points on this jutsu.

You transform your ninja hound into a duplicate of yourself enhancing its capabilities in combat. As you make contact with your ninja hound, it gains the following benefits:
It gains 10 temporary hit points
It can make one additional attack on its turn
It gains advantage on the first attack roll it makes on its turn
Its attacks deal an additional 1d8 points of damage
It gains your appearance and becomes indistinguishable from yourself. It cannot speak while in this form, but its growls and barks sound as if you were making those sounds.
On its turn, it can cast a taijutsu technique you have prepared utilizing your chakra points. This technique must be from the Inuzuka clan jutsu list.
Two-Headed Wolf Transformation
B-Rank General Skill/Natureless
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range: Touch
Duration: 1 minute
Chakra Point Cost: 3 points
You and your ninja hound combine and transform into a mighty beast. You must touch your ninja hound to cast this jutsu. For the duration, you and your ninja hound become one and take on the statistics of the Two-Headed Wolf. While in this form, you cannot speak, nor can you cast any Jutsu. Your ninja hound becomes part of you which prevents you from giving it commands.
You can end this jutsu early as a bonus action, at which point your hound appears at a point within 5 feet of you. .

Hound Adaptation
A-Rank Taijutsu
Casting Time: 8 Hours
Range: Touch
Duration: Instantaneous
Chakra Point Cost: 8 points
By permanently infusing your chakra within your ninja hound, you greatly enhance its physicality. Once cast, this jutsu cannot be dispeled or removed by any means. Your hound’s intelligence score becomes 10, and it learns how to speak common. Additionally, its strength, dexterity, constitution, and wisdom scores all increase by 3 (all related features in its stat block increase accordingly), and its movement speed increases by 10 feet.
Once this jutsu has been used on your hound, it cannot be affected by the jutsu again.
