Coat of Living Flesh
Wondrous item, Legendary (requires attunement)
This mass of muscles and flesh twitches and moves when in the presence of another living creature. When you attune to this item, it adheres to your body and fits your form. You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons, and whenever a creature hits you with a melee attack, it takes 3d6 necrotic damage and you regain an equal amount of hit points. Your hit point maximum cannot be reduced.
Ingrained Nature. Whenever you heal hit points from a source other than the Coat of Living Flesh, you only heal half the total amount. You cannot willingly unattune from this item. If you are targeted by an effect that ends a curse, your attunement to the item ends, and it turns back into a twitching pile of flesh.
Sentience. The Coat of Living Flesh is a sentient neutral evil item with an Intelligence of 15, a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 14. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.
The item communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common
Personality. The item wishes to survive at all costs. It drives its wearer to make wise choices. If the wearer is near death, it will detach itself in search of a new host.
